By introducing ESD principles and perspectives into the National Curriculum Standards at all school levels and promoting ESD in more than 1,000 UNESCO ASPnet schools, the largest number in the world, Japan has been producing results which will lead to transforming learning environments, building capacities of educators, empowering and mobilizing youth, and accelerating local-level actions.
